3 Reasons Travelling Is Necessary
And why I’m excited to start travelling too.
At my current standings when I am writing this, I can’t afford much when it comes to taking vacations. That being said, vacations have always been something that I look forward to and have a few dreams that are travel related.
One of the big ones I want to do is travel across Canada. Again. For the third time in my life.
I am very excited for it when the opportunity for it does arise, but for now it’s but a pipe dream. Still that doesn’t take away the fact that travelling is something necessary we need.
I’ve explained some benefits of travelling, but I’d like to take some more time now to explain what travelling means to me.
Life Is A Series Of Experiences
Holiday: A period of activity so intense that it can only be undertaken three or four weeks in the year. — Miles Kington
Life is indeed a series of experiences. We’re always going to remember the memories that we make through experiences rather than the things that we have. It’s likely why what I remember the most from my memories are the times that we travel, or the lack thereof.
Part of my reason for wanting to travel a lot is because of that. The few times I’ve travelled big, they’ve been amazing and life-defining adventures. Imaging more of those experiences only makes me more excited to the idea of travelling.
Travelling changes the mind through understanding yourself and making changes.
When you do that in a big way, it becomes monumental and meaningful to you.
Higher Productivity
I can’t think of anything that excites a great sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost everything. — Bill Bryson
I’ve already gotten a taste of this through moving to different work areas. Since I’ve been travelling into town and working in cafés, I’ve heightened my productivity to new levels. I consider these times as more like a treat than a routine thing, but it also gives me a reason to work hard while at home.
If I’m getting this much work done in a different location, imagine what would happen if I was in a completely different town, city, or country.
This higher productivity can help me and you as we can find answers to our questions faster than usual. Not to mention we can be better workers when in those positions.
Fresher Perspectives
If all the year were playing holidays, to sport would be as tedious as to work; but when they seldom come, the wished for come. — Shakespeare
The last thing that makes travelling necessary and what pumps me about travelling is the new perspectives. Sure being in a different place can do wonders for our work and get us to think differently, but what I’m really looking forward to is the people.
Slowly but surely I’ve been getting comfortable working around other people. This can lead to people asking me what exactly it is I am doing and perhaps getting more readers or chatting in general. I’m excited about these kinds of conversations as it’s important for us to embrace other views and perspectives rather than reject them.
Having that kind of scenario being able to play out makes travelling for me all the more exciting and life-changing.
Try This
As I said yesterday travelling doesn’t have to be something massive all the time. By all means, travelling in a big way can make a difference in your life, but even the smaller trips can be meaningful too.
Even though travelling for me has been rather lacking, I have travelled outside of the hometown I’ve grown up several times and they have been meaningful. Even the travelling outside of my childhood room have been impactful for me and my business as I continue to hustle.
I believe the same can happen for you as well.
To your growth!
