3 Things Self Care Can Do
The responsibility of our lives falls onto ourselves.
No one else can better take care of ourselves better than us.
Yet a lot of us don’t.
A lot of us lack a variety of things in our lives.
Some people live lives that they didn’t want.
Many of us have been stuck in that place because we allowed ourselves to be there.
But self care can help in many ways. If you truly want to understand yourself, you will need self care to expose things to you. Here are but a few things that self care can do for you.
Dealing With Depression
One of the important aspects about self care is that it comes in the form of actions that we do. — Eric S Burdon
Self care is but another of the many terms that describe positive habits. It’s showing appreciation for ourselves, but also to help us understand what we desire in life.
It’s then the habits that we develop over time that cause other effects in our lives.
From joy and happiness to sorrow and depression, how we take care of ourselves through our habits determines a lot.
Much like the other things that we do.
With regards to depression, it may stem from an event that keeps us paralyzed.
We may have developed a habit that prompts us to think negatively at a certain point. It was this paralysis that has made us inactive and has led us astray on the path we wish to take.
Although that is true, self care, or the habits that we collect can also help us lead in the direction we want to go as well. It’s learning to overcome that and acquire a collection of habits and ways of thinking that we can potentially overcome depression.
At least in cases where the source of our depression and anxiety is related to us trailing behind.
Getting Unstuck
“We are set in our ways, bound by our perspectives and stuck in our thinking.” ― Joel Osteen
If self care can help with depression, it can assist in a plethora of other things too.
One such thing is removing the sense of feeling stuck.
We all get lost in our lives at various times, but we shouldn’t panic or give up if we lack what we need to find. Here’s some other pointers that might help.
But going back to self care, by acquiring habits we can better learn where we want to go in life.
Some times the biggest revelations stem from us tracing back our steps in life. That or perhaps doing something bold and unexpected to see what happens.
It makes sense to do something like that as what we do makes an impact in our lives.
The actions that we take and don’t take help us in identifying our desires and also pursuing them.
Self care truly is learning to understand ourselves and know where we want to go.
Speaking of which…
Identifying Your Direction
“Lack of direction, not lack of time, is the problem. We all have twenty-four hour days.” ― Zig Ziglar
Self care can also help in understanding our direction in life.
I’ve said in the past that when we grow and gain confidence we can better understand that.
That all comes to self care as we care about our well-being and how we can grow and achieve what we desire.
Again, our actions are but an instrument to get what we want. That pure simple action alone is self care.
Yes, there are certainly other ways in finding our direction, but self care is a big one. Much like what I said above, when you have a passion, you’ll find ways to do it and pursue it. That is a direction you can take.
Try This
You don’t need to come up with affirmations any longer. If you have some, keep practicing them. But I’d like you to look deeper into yourself and take this month to understand yourself.
Perhaps pick up a few hobbies or take a serious look at your life, desires, direction, and actions to see if everything is lined up.
Either way, take this time to have a good hard look at yourself.
To your growth!
