3 Things That Drag Your Self-Esteem Down

(And How To Get Stronger From Them)

Our mood for the day depends solely on the thoughts that run through our head every morning.

Be it positive or negative these thoughts propel our actions and influence what we say.

If our world is a world that we are waking up feeling unsatisfied with, then it is time to make a change.

Once more, practice self-talk as much as possible, as that can change your life and how you see the world.

Particularly, practice these affirmations as they too can make a difference.

Your Work

On the global scale, 85% of people hate their job or find it completely disconnected from their work. Even with the US being at about 70%, that is still a dangerously high number.

Not to mention, an area of negative self-talk that will ultimately tank your self-esteem.

Of course a massive relief would actually be quitting that job, but it can be challenging to know where to go. Furthermore, not everyone can be motivated enough to find something else immediately.

Even if you feel completely disconnected with the work: You can find connection between your work and what you value in life.

Devote some time to thinking about where you want to go and what you need to do. From there, practice this affirmation:

“I will get to where I want to go thanks to this job.”

For those working day jobs, no doubt there are a number of workers who complain about the work. This sort of culture does affect you over time, especially if you have a small circle of friends outside of work.

What this means is the quality of people you spend time with will affect how you see the world and how you act.

People who practice negative self-talk or in general lack confidence in doing things, will rub off onto other people within the group.

With this in mind, you want to be changing who you associate with. Devote some time to looking into groups of people with collected interests in things.

A good site to look up is meetup.com, there they have a variety of groups that you can hang out with. It also doesn’t hurt to say this:

“I have a strong group of people around me who support me.”

Your Health

Your own physical appearance does play a factor into all this as well. I know from personal experience I crushed my confidence primarily due to body shaming myself.

Now there is nothing wrong with have a bigger body, body positivity and all that.

For me, it’s a toned body. I’ve gotten over body shaming myself, however I know I’m not the only case. Some people may feel paralyzed in many areas of their life all because they’re too scared to go to a gym.

If that’s the case, start looking after yourself at home.

Devote a little bit of time every morning to an exercise routine.

Pay attention to the foods that you are eating as well.

Start giving a damn about your body and what type of body that you want for yourself.

That is what I’m making steps on doing and it gets easier every day.

And don’t forget to affirm yourself:

“I am getting stronger every day because I am looking after myself.”

Try This

Affirmations do make a massive impact when you try them out.

Doing them daily can help change your entire mood so don’t be afraid to use them. Add these three to your regimen:

  • “I will get to where I want to go thanks to this job.”
  • “I have a strong group of people around me who support me.”
  • “I am getting stronger every day because I am looking after myself.”

You will not regret it.
