Corporations care about profits because that's the point of a business.

Profits stem from people and if the people want corporations to save the planet then corporations have to adapt or people will look for better and emerging alternatives. Alternatively, if shareholders are interested in saving the planet then they're going to want the companies they invest in to hold similar values or they'll divest. That process is a slow start in Canada and America, but in places outside of those countries is a whole other story.

If we can't depend on corporations to fix themselves it comes down to the people and shareholders who have the ability to literally financially cripple a corporation if they work in tandem. A difficult ask, but possible in theory.
