Finding Core Values In A Conflicted World
How to figure out what you represent and best convey that.
Over the past few weeks, there have been some things that I’ve seen that have gotten me to look at myself and my business closely.
First was my former mentor who is spouting out right-wing extreme conspiracy theories under the name of self-improvement. It’s jarring to see a woman whom I trusted and grew from turn out to actually be someone completely different.
But more importantly, the second instance that led me to look at myself and my business is an article that I read today about a big self-improvement guru — Rachel Hollis.
It was written by Shannon Ashley and looked at how Rachel made the decision to divorce her husband of 18 years and how it showed a lot of issues about this decision and her overall message.
The core of it was the fact she’s been giving self-improvement and relationship advice for years while romanticizing toxic positivity and living in an unhappy marriage.
Rachel encourages people to be vulnerable and open and yet, many people are surprised that her marriage is ending in a divorce. They’re surprised by this news…
