How I Got Out Of Survival Mode
How my shakey financial situation while living with parents moved to living in an apartment, saving money, and covering expenses.
Today while I was waiting for my personal trainer, one of the members in the PT area came up to me. Quickly the conversation devolved into talking about money.
About his inability to save up even though he’s got a military job (one of the best paying jobs you can get around this area).
I told him I can relate to that feeling somewhat though I’ve always been borderline paranoid about my money. I’m the type to splurge but never have gone off the deep-end.
It all reminds me of my past financial situation five years ago.
I was jobless, living in my Halifax apartment and unable to make rent. It was my lowest point financially.
I had to go into survival mode.
That meant moving back to my childhood home and to a place that I didn’t want to be in.
Through those five years, I learned a lot about money, and money management. The principles that I learned serve as a solid foundation for my money behaviour at this point.
