How The Narratives We Create Prevent Us From Growing
Our stories try to add sensibility to our lives, but that very act can restrict our growth. There’s a better option than this.
The more I’ve delved into the politics and understand what is going on, the more I realize one simple thing:
The narratives that we build up often come crumbling down before our very eyes.
With the left wanting to make life easier for people little by little, at almost every turn I see the right focusing on specific narratives. Instead of presenting solutions, many right-wing leaders are focusing on weaving a particular story to their base.
Immigrants are eating people’s cats and dogs.
Immigrants who are working and overall helping your community by paying taxes and buying goods and services are responsible for taking away your food stamps.
The problem is these foreigners and not the exceedingly wealthy billionaires who are paying their way into positions of even greater power. After all, we know people with lots of money are smart titans of their industry.
Many gobble this narrative up because we love a good story and humans have always been great storytellers. We like to think our big moments…
