How To Conquer Yourself
The Daily Grind #18

For a while now I’ve been hankering to get out of the room that I’ve been working in. It’s getting to the point where this morning, before I got to writing this, I was feeling a little stressed out for the first time.
I’ve been running into this same issue last week as well as I didn’t get a chance to head out to my usual spot and work.
The excuses have kept on piling up.
“I’ve got all of this client work to do.”
“It’s already early afternoon, I might as well stay here and work.”
“There isn’t enough time to justify going out.”
My excuses have been mainly revolving around the time I have as well as obligations that I have.
I’ve been defeating myself time and time again with these excuses. At least for a little bit.
But today, I am committed to getting out.
I need this.
I Can Conquer Myself
Conquering yourself boils down to understanding yourself as well as your needs and simply satisfying them. In my case, I know that going out is a necessary part of my week. It’s a place where I can get a lot of work done and it breaks up my week rather nicely too.
It gives me something to look forward to day after day.
As a result, I shouldn’t be denying myself that or pushing it off to the next day because of something else happening.
If I do, then it’s a matter of breaking down that excuse and looking over my day and asking two questions:
What sort of things are necessary?
What could be things that I can avoid?
Our time is valuable and you want to spend that time wisely. You want to be focusing on the things that mean a lot to you and do them. Whether it’s breaking up your work cycle by heading into town, or having some other ritual that makes you feel refreshed and focused.
It suggests that conquering yourself is more of overcoming your mindset where you make excuses, doubt your abilities, and set aside things that need to be there. It’s denying your rituals that you know are good for you.
Conquer Your Mind
I want you to seriously look at what is most important to you and explain why that is to yourself. Consider the answer and make notes on how you feel about that answer.
Is it something you truly want?
Or are you kidding yourself?
When it’s something that you truly value it feels off when you don’t do it. Like I am right now, I’m feeling a bit irritated and stressed. Maybe a little overwhelmed with how much work I’m doing.
Despite that, I’m still focused and I really shouldn’t be denying myself these days where I head out and work in a cafe. They are necessary for me.
This means to conquer myself, I simply need to conquer my mind and do what I want to do despite what I come up with to stop me.
This is how you conquer yourself.
To your growth!

I’ve been making more progress on my site, namely putting together the posts that I’ve put together months ago. Yesterday felt really nice because I got to the more creative aspects of the site. From putting together quotes and images, it was refreshing to use my creative skills in that capacity.
I even teased what some of the quote images will look like. Here’s a sample.
Of course, feedback is appreciated and there will certainly be more things coming soon. Aside from my client work, my focus has been getting this site ready for the big day on Monday.
