Doubt can only be removed by actions. — Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

We all have doubts in our lives that slow us down.

They are but the barriers that we place up ourselves during our transformation through our lives.

Doubt is completely natural when you look at every success story out there.

There are always stories where people risk everything to get to where they are now.

There are stories where people failed immensely, only to rise back up.

And there are certainly stories of people who doubt themselves yet rose up and succeeded.

Those people who overcame doubt had a process. A method and tactic to crushing their doubts and mastering them.

They learned to not be shaken by doubts or the doubts that others placed on them. They knew they were better than that and deserved more.

And they achieved that.

How Did They Do That?

Doubt me? I’ll prove you wrong. You just wait. — Anonymous

The answer is simple: they had a plan put in place.

But not just any plain plan.

Of course writing down a list of tasks to do every day, and setting goals can help.

But that alone isn’t enough. You’re not suddenly going to leap out and fully commit.

It might sound nice on paper, the concept of “just do it,” but I believe there are more effective methods. As someone who is overcoming laziness, the last thing that’ll get me moving is someone yelling at me “Do it!”

The first thing to realize about doubt is doubt stems from an uncertainty. Either you are overwhelmed by your goals or you don’t feel confident in your own abilities.

That doubt changes your actions and how you think.

So in order to change your mindset, you need to sort out those doubts. Much like any other successful and striving individual.

Some of it can stem from saying affirmations to yourself much like what Oprah and Jim Carrey did.

But there is more. It’s something else that I realized myself on my journey. I’ve started to apply it myself, and my whole world has changed.

My Direction

Efforts and courage isn’t enough without purpose and direction. — John F Kennedy

I call it “My direction.”

It’s a document that I keep on my laptop and that I consult, expand, and edit as time goes on.

Even though I have a set of tasks and goals, all of that is geared by this document.

It’s the plan to end all plans. I outline the following in this plan:

Exactly what I want to do;

How I’ll go about it; and

Explain my emotional reasons.

I even go as far as convincing myself right in that document why this is a good idea for me to do.

This method I believe works immensely in crushing doubt for a few reasons.

By breaking things down you are leaving less room for being overwhelmed and therefore less doubt.

You also affirm and believe in yourself. This makes a significant difference. After all, if no one believes in you (not even yourself) you have more room to doubt.

This plan breaks down everything for what I want to do in a general sense.

All I need to do is branch some ideas together to achieve those objectives.

Furthermore by selling myself on the idea over and over again, I’m putting a lot of belief into myself. This helps in changing my thinking as I force doubt out of my mind.

What Is Your Direction?

So seriously.

What is the direction you want to go in life?

Why haven’t you taken steps to achieve it right now?

What must be done in order to achieve what you want?

Write all of those questions down and answer them as detailed as you can. Pay attention to what you are saying and reading and tie some affirmations to them.

Tell yourself that every single day that you’ll change the more you practice and take action on those affirmations.

You are the sole decider of your own life. Own it.

To your growth!
