How To Use Self-Love To Boost Confidence
True appreciation to yourself stems from yourself.
One of the biggest barriers to confidence is our lack of belief in ourselves. This lack of belief can stem from a variety of sources.
Perhaps you are lacking money.
Maybe you don’t have all the skills right now.
Or maybe deep down, you really don’t appreciate yourself or give yourself enough credit.
The last one I want to be touching on today as it’s a very interesting one. It’s in the realm of possibility when you look at certain examples.
One of them being, asking for a raise.
I’ve heard of many effective strategies to do this. However one of the barriers actually stems from our self-worth. After all, our self-worth is a projection of how useful we think we are. Our confidence.
So it’s fair to say that when we value ourselves less, it may be because we lack belief and appreciation for who we are, the skills we have, and more.
All of these things are a projection of our confidence in ourselves.
Therefore, when we practice something like self-love, we can grow tremendously. This can boost our confidence, amongst many other things.
What Does It Mean To Love Yourself?
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection”
— Buddha
I’m not talking about some high level narcissism. Self-love is simply showing appreciation for yourself. Affirmations are along the same vein as that.
But self-love is more than showing gratitude for being alive and expressing affirmations. For sure that’s important, but that alone won’t boost your confidence in starting that venture, or learning something new.
What it means to love yourself is putting your faith in your abilities and resources. Whether they are large or small, it doesn’t matter.
True self-love is the firm belief that you can improve yourself no matter where you are in life right now.
Furthermore you’ll show appreciation for yourself, your journey, and your fulfilment.
Self-love also manifests in taking better care of yourself. After all, you may be stretching resources, so it’s important to use those resources to take better care of yourself.
How To Practice Self-Love
“Until you value yourself, you won’t value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it. ”
– M. Scott Peck
Practicing self-love is simple. For me, I believe it boils down to affirmations once more. Affirmations are powerful forces. But as I described in leveraging the law of attraction, it’s important to pair a plan and actions to those affirmations.
You can love yourself to the ends of the earth, but it’s not going to stop you from eating unhealthy food, sitting around and not achieving your dreams, and more.
It all comes back to taking action. Affirmations are simply one strategy.
But you can use self-love as a motivator as well.
If you love yourself, you’ll avoid the things that don’t help you.
When you love yourself, you are conscious about your time and who you spend it with.
You love yourself immensely, when you focus on growing yourself and leveraging every resource you’ve got.
Self-love is the definition of affirming yourself, believing in yourself, and moving forward.
Try This
“A man cannot be comfortable without his own approval.”
– Mark Twain
If you love yourself, take some time to knock out one habit that you think is bad for you.
If you are someone who eats a lot of sugar, take a step back and monitor it. Make some steps to reduce how much you are consuming.
If you want a better body, envision your ideal figure, plan an short exercise routine around that. Commit to it every single day without falter.
When you love yourself, you’ll find ways to do those things. Even in tight situations where you are really busy, you’ll find ways.
To your growth!
