I believe you are correct in thinking that scenario was a mixture of pride and shame. Before I moved back to my parents place 7 years ago, there were a handful of months where I just relied on my parents to cover for tried to make something work but to no avail.

Part of that stemmed from being too proud to rely on complete support and shame of going back to my childhood home.

So I can relate a lot to being reluctant to making those tough decisions and to try and make something work on your own.
