I do agree with that overall sentiment to a point since the why isn't so important as the finished product - a person out of their mind and riled up by their emotions.
Knowing why to argue with them is going to get nowhere at all.
But for those who are critically thinking, knowing why could be used as a means of counter-acting or being persuasive in other means.
For example, I know in the US there's also a lot of book banning efforts happening right now. It's terrible, but some people are being cheeky about their defiance through malicious compliance. Some parents are sending requests to ban the Holy Bible, and other religious books.
Those books might not end up being banned for very long - if at all - but it does send a message about why putting in legislation to ban books is a bad idea.
