I have heard of Insulin Resistance though more in conversations around diabetes 1 & 2.
I also agree with the idea not many researchers in these fields cover this or think that way. I recall those food guides being pretty bad growing up. In Canada it was like a food rainbow (rather than a pyramid) where meats and fat alternatives were low and that you wanted most food to be the carbs - your breads, cereals, and pastas.
Back then, the sugar industry had a grip on the market and said all the fatty meats were the problem but sugar was absolutely fine. That I can imagine contributed some other dietary shifts. Up until we learned there were different kinds of fats and that some fats were necessary and all.
Yeah the unfortunate part is that - we know better but many aren't allowed to talk about it. Or if it's taboo you can be dismissed easily by someone more prominent and preaching a message that's been echoed plenty of times over. I can imagine you had to do quite some digging to find that research too.
I think the best way to be bringing that into conversation is probably through these kinds of things. Platforms focus on a single message but they can also branch off. As I said with body neutrality, I can imagine people would be more into researching these things and may stumble upon the same things that you've shared with me and for others who happen to read the comments of this article. That's really our best hope. Also sharing that story can help dramatic. People love success stories and dropping all that weight that you did from a change in your diet is incredible.
