I Try To Avoid Waking Up At 5 AM
It sucks, it’s pointless, the benefits aren’t that worth it.
The 5 am club. The time champions wake up. It’s the time they mean behind the quote “the early bird catches the worm.”
A good portion of the self-help world is obsessed with this particular time of the day. Hustle culture has this expectation that if you are to wake up at this hour, you’ll get everything done and be a hustle god.
Some might admit that getting into the habit at the beginning is rough, but you’ll get used to it. After all, if you’re that determined to get up at that time and reach your goals, this act is emblematic of those desires.
Maybe it’s because I’m still in those phases where waking up at 5 am is a slog for me, but I don’t really see that.
Ever since I heard about this act of devotion to hustle, I thought of it as dumb, pointless, and the benefits aren’t all that worthwhile. It’s another trope of hustle culture nonsense that is meant to pump you up and drive you to be your very best.
Like no one ever was.
But I don’t see it that way at all.
