One piece of parenting advice I listened to a while back was if I ever had kids I shouldn’t be thinking of myself in any part of it. What I mean by that is I shouldn’t raise my kid for my own gains or the experiences or even fear of missing out. But it also applies to the smaller things as well. For example, I shouldn’t name my kid based on what I think is cool if that makes any sense.

That’s something that I’ve been keeping in mind a lot when it comes to kids. At the end of the day there’s more things at work than a simple yes or no answer to the question of having kids or not.
