Right you are about this Aurelius! Through my own journey and experience I've come to continuiously reconfirm that often the better method is something simpler.

Although I'd argue that technology does have a way of making things better, the issue is more people have designed it to make it so addictive and information intensive people lose the meaning and purpose of it. Making mountains out of mole hills as it were.

Getting back to basics and trying from there can often be a fantastic solution to a lot of problems. No 'hacking' involved.
