Thank you very much for the mention and you are quite right. For all my life I’ve been a pretty emotional individual. I wouldn’t say my parents raised me the best way but I don’t ever recall being told that men are supposed to be strong or these emotionless beings.
Either way, I think it’s important to recognize what you have mentioned for both sides. Deep down men have this expectation that they are meant to be those types of individuals and that’s clearly not right. Sometimes the pressure is too much and they do feel victimized by that. Of course, that’s not always the case and I think it’s important to gauge that.
In the end, though, we do need to be raising boys better and it comes down what you’ve been saying many times over, enforcing it’s okay to be emotional, or when a statement or behaviour is wrong, or to practice empathy and understanding of not only women but other men as well.
