The pandemic here in New Brunswick wasn't that bad. We had the second lowest cases in Canada with the least being PEI - an island with only a single bridge connecting it to the rest of Canada and a very small population.
Our government decided to remove mask mandates a few weeks ago at this point. Though they still stressed that you can still wear a mask if you'd like. It's just no longer enforced that you need to wear one anywhere at this point.
The ironic thing about this is that now that the mask mandates are gone, cases are spiking a little. A couple of my high school classmates caught it - even though they're double vaxxed, got the booster, wear a mask, and santize their hands - posted it on facebook and said removing the mandates was done too soon. They're calmer about the whole situation. Others not so much are complaining to the government for lifting it too soon. I kinda give the provincial government a pass in this just because we handled the pandemic from the start incredibly well for the most part and people were quick to wear the mask and be fine with it.
I'm with you in that the US shouldn't have lifted the mandates just yet. It's still pretty bad and so many areas didn't handle the pandemic in the manner that New Brunswick handled it. Unfortunately all that we can hope for is that people take matters into their own hands and just wear the mask now.
