There is a difference between relationships draining at times and ones where they drain you all the time no matter what. The ones that happen at times are fine as relationships hit rough patches and no one expects relationships to be 100% positive and energizing and enriching all the time. In those situations, it is worth it to invest in it and make things work. To reach compromises and solidify that bond.

What I’m referring to are the relationships where you are the only one trying to keep the relationship afloat and the other is making no effort in any way. A purely one-sided friendship or relationship where the other person is not committed or considerate of your own situation or being. Instead, they see the relationship as an opportunity to use you however they like — whether that’s as an extra bank account, a bodyguard, etc — and don’t feel obligated to make it up to you in any way.

I write (and sometimes do videos) about self-help for those who don't like self-help. Complete with the occasional memes and riffs on the industry that I love.
