To Be A Great Writer And Entrepreneur, You Need To Do This
The Daily Grind #55
What is the biggest difference between who you are right now and the people that have already made it?
Of course the wealthy and successful have a variety of qualities that sets them apart. From being resourceful, humble, confident, innovative and more. However there is one trait that I think is most important.
Vulnerability.
This is one of the biggest differences that sets apart the writers and entrepreneurs of our time. And for a very good reason.
Not every person is willing to share who they really are.
While the internet is a great and powerful tool for us all, a lot of us choose to hide behind a persona. We refuse to tear off that mask and show ourselves and what we really think. Not to mention what our own lives are like as well.
As a result, people are quick to presume that our lives are good and that things are getting better. After all, why are we as writers talking about ways to improve others lives?
It must be that our own lives are going wonderful right? Not exactly.

Not Everything Is As It Seems
We cannot live a life without flaws and as people, we have many flaws. This isn’t to say we are in no position to help, but our lives aren’t as they seem.
But as writers it’s important for us to remind our readers our positions. Our reasons for thinking a certain way are due to the life decisions and outcomes that we have gone through.
It’s why I remind myself and my readers that I’m not the healthiest person around (but I’m working on it), that I’m not wealthy at all (I’m making less than minimum wage), and I seem to have a knack for working most of the time.
Of course, these are all things that I’m working to improve on. But these are issues that are in my life.
I share that openly because I’m not afraid to say that I’m not the ideal person. In fact I do not want to be an ideal person. I want to be a person who helps people become better. That’s all.
Show Vulnerability First And Remind Them
Of course there is a way about being vulnerable. Vulnerability isn’t about dragging yourself down and beating yourself up. It’s not being weepy and sad saying “I’m vulnerable”
Being vulnerable is being strong enough to admit things in your life that you’re not afraid to share.
It’s not living a life that’s an open book, but admitting and allowing people to glimpse at some of the chapters or most of the pages.
Not only that but you want remind people as well.
After all, not every person is going to care about your plight. No one cares if I’m not doing well off or that I’m chubby.
But people will start caring if I remind people and talk about the journey that I’m on. How I’m working hard to earn more money in general and on this platform. How I’m putting an effort into exercising on a daily basis.
This is all important and slowly people will start caring more as progress is being made.
The Decision Is Yours
The life of a writer or an entrepreneur is demanding. There’s a lot of sacrifice and a lot of time is dedicated to it. But one of the first things that people ought to do is to show some sides of them.
It doesn’t need to be a massive reveal. Go slow and share bits and pieces throughout. But there comes a time where you need to let it all out so don’t be afraid to make a short video or an entire post dedicated to it. It makes a difference.
To your growth!
