What’s More Important In Losing Weight: Self-Motivation Or Self-Realization?
In my experiences with weight loss and general health there is as much physical aspects one must learn and pay attention to as there are mental aspects.
Losing weight means being more conscious about what you are eating. Not only in making good healthy choices and getting the right nutrients, but also curbing cravings.
There is also the whole aspect of working out and living a more active lifestyle. In order to develop muscles and to push through even when you’re sweating and sore you have to go through physical and mental trials.
What helps in these various aspects in my mind is self-motivation. Being able to motivate yourself to overcome the various physical and mental challenges is important since a lack of it would leave you demoralized and give up trying to change in the first place.
But one thing that I heard about recently is the concept of self-realization or mindfulness in weight loss.
It’s an interesting concept especially since meditation is a well-researched topic. It’s more grounded in reality compared to health fads that promise you’ll shed several pounds in a week or two. There is also a recent review that looked at mindfulness in weight loss as well.
