Why Progress Can Be So Unappealing

We want to grow. But how committed are we to it?

While the turn of the new year was middling for some, others are experiencing the worst start to the year. People’s homes are burnt to the ground while other Los Angeles residents have had to deal with ash and worse air quality.

All the while worried about the fire spreading further.

But all of this is overshadowed by two other elements.

First are the government officials. The people with power and can make a difference in people’s lives. Many people’s livelihoods are at stake and as Adam Conover spoke about in his recent video on the LA fires, the government is failing them.

But the second is the wide spread misinformation surrounding the fires.

For sure there are a lot of crazy theories, but the one that has become the most consequential of them all is surrounding DEI — or Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

For the uninitiated, DEI as a whole is all about mixing up the gender and race…
