Why Setting Crazy Goals Will Make You Stronger
A few days ago I saw a tweet from Tom Kuegler that he’ll be moving to Portland by his 26th birthday. I’m starting to get to know Tom a lot more and I know that he’s going to make it there in due time.
But the tweet also got me thinking a lot about myself and what sort of crazy goals I want to be setting. I mean like I went from making pennies every month and have increased my revenues by literally 6000% per month.
That’s kind of easy to do if you’re making pennies and now earning about $600 a month.
But what exactly do I want to be doing with that money?
That’s the question that I ask myself.
The logical answer is save it up for the massive amount of student debt I have. But at the same time, I don’t want to be living at my parents place for the next decade while I pay that off.
This Is Why You Set Crazy Goals
This situation calls for us to be setting crazy goals in our lives. For me, these crazy goals are in between goals we want to be achieving and 10X goals.
In short, crazy goals are things you want to be putting a lot of effort towards and will step up your game dramatically. At the same time though it’s not as absurd or as large as a 10X goal.
You could even call it a 5X goal or something like that. Either way it’s something large but still achievable if you are willing to push for it.
While Tom’s goal is easier seeing as Portland will be cheaper living, he still can’t slouch around. He needs to be hustling just like everyone else.
And that in of itself is what makes people stronger.
The grind has always made people progressively stronger.
From working, you learn to work better, smarter, harder. You learn things you didn’t know before either.
But there is more to it than just that.
Setting Crazy Goals Brings You On A Journey
Another way setting these crazy goals is that it’s another adventure. This is important for us as writers, entrepreneurs, and as people. The big reason is that success can make us comfortable. This in turn makes us feel not as motivated to achieve our own success.
As I mention in that video, it’s important for us to climb that mountain, but also for us to find another mountain to climb.
This isn’t greed talking, it’s human progress.
Our journey isn’t over if we make it to the top of one mountain. As I suggest in my video, there are other things we are striving for as well. It’s not just about making money. Some of us want to improve our health, or perhaps have deeper and more meaningful connections too.
In the end, we set the bar. And when we set it really high, great things can happen.
So What About My Goal?
So what about my next crazy goal? Well the answer is really simple. I want to be getting out of the house, but also be making enough money to live and afford paying my student debt back at long last.
To do so, it’s a matter of making more money for myself. That’s already a given.
But where exactly will I be?
I truly don’t know right now.
That’s the crazy part.
To your growth!
