Why Slow Change Is Incredible

Choosing between the fast lane and the slow lane is an easy choice for us all when it comes to self improvement. Deep down, we cling to stories that move quickly, get to the point, and are able to inspire us in a matter of minutes.

It’s for this reason we faun over the rich and powerful as they suddenly appear all dramatic-like.

But little do we know how they got there was nothing short of deliberate, methodical, and painstaking slow. And in some cases, manipulative.

Even though a revolution happens suddenly and everything changes, the resentment is slow and bubbling under the surface. There are signs that we can see from a mile away.

As I looked back over last year’s efforts the biggest theme I could pull from the year was that the growth I experienced was slow and small. And as I’m looking to this year I’m thinking it’ll be more of the same with some changes.

Better intentions. Better strategies. More focus.

Like building blocks, last year set up a foundation that I can build up on but also teach me — and remind me — that if we are to grow and be better, we need to go at this slowly rather than quickly.

Here is why.

I write (and sometimes do videos) about self-help for those who don't like self-help. Complete with the occasional memes and riffs on the industry that I love.
