Why Thinking Twice Helps

The Daily Grind #83

--

We are always so certain about our own lives at times. We make quick decisions and for many of us, we don’t always consider every aspect of the decision.

While some of us are pretty thorough with our decisions, so many don’t think a lot about the consequences of their actions. Some of us quit our jobs due to our own frustrations. Some stop particular habits because they’re “too hard” or we “don’t feel like doing them.”

All of our actions have a cost, a consequence to it of course. But sometimes, it’s well worth holding back.

At least a little bit.

For example, I recently talked about my desire to move to Brasilia and since then I’ve been flip-flopping on that decision. Don’t get me wrong, I do want to be travelling, but since then, I’ve been thinking of moving to Guatemala and now even Thailand.

Why am I being so indecisive with this?

Part of it is due to culture, but also my ability to connect with other people in the area as well. Before this decision, every time I’ve travelled, there was always someone I could connect with. I never felt alone in all of this.

That’s significant.

The last thing that you really want to do is be a place where no one understands you and you’re completely alone.

This is why I’m thinking more seriously about where I want to be moving to and debating on whether I should stay in Canada as a start.

But if I rushed forward with very little thought about what to do and where to go, I would probably be screwed. And that’s the last thing I want.

This is why it pays to think twice about our own decisions. By thinking twice, there is some degree of hesitation and to look at other options. Thailand already has an established digital nomad community. Considering that’s what I’d become technically, it makes sense to be in a community of digital nomads.

By thinking twice, we can make smarter decisions about our own circumstances and what situations we have to deal with. For me, travelling is something I want to do badly, but as I’ve been researching, there’s more to it than that.

Think Twice Creates Certainty

Thinking twice isn’t always sign that you are doubting yourself or hesitating. In some cases it is, but only if you choose to do nothing. Me contemplating where to travel to and then staying here and doing nothing to get there would be hesitating.

However, I’m working on saving up. I’m studying up the region and where I should be going. There’s a lot of critical decisions.

Thinking twice for me is creating certainty in my decision for where I want to be going and moving to. I realize now it’s a much bigger deal than how I thought of it before.

We too can incorporate this in our own businesses, after all, every decision we make with our business is critical. Whether we succeed or fail it doesn’t matter. Instead, you want to make sure that the decision you make and the path you walk is in a way that suits your values and morals.

Thinking twice about a decision to ensure that is significant and there is no shame in doing that.

To your growth!
