Yeah I'm with you on this too John, writing and researching this article was thought-provoking for me too. I can also relate to ideologies as a whole since I'd say all kinds of different groups have their own ideals.

The ones that stand out the most for me are more around network marketing when that was something I did. The companies I was involved in both believed they were helping people - and to an extent they were. But they could've gone about it in a better way i.e. not making a pyramid scheme out of it.

I'm thinking that ideologies - as damaging as they can be - should be around though. Even though they can be harmful, we need them in order to quantify things. Our brains do like wedging ideas and groups and people into mental boxes to make it easier to process. Ideologies is just a way for us to quantify and understand groups and what they do.
