Your Self-Help Books Aren’t Helping You

The brief mental high isn’t worth changing your life around.

It was a spur of the moment idea that was out of the blue as the email I received from someone wanting me to review their self-help book. While I’ve a modest following here on Medium, my Youtube channel is significantly smaller.

Why would someone want me to review their book when I barely have any reach as it is?

Between reading a few books this year and being approached by a few individuals wanting me to review their book, I decided to take a stab at it. Starting this month, I’ll be making a video talking about one particular book I read recently and share my thoughts on it.

I’m excited about it since it should help me expand my audience a little and offer some new content. This is on top of the books offering some practical advice in them too.

But I also know the dangers of self-help books and the problems that can stem from them.

It was something I somewhat pieced together early on in my self-help journey. There was a point in my journey where I stopped reading entirely.
